Group trips to Germany: Learning German and discovering culture together

Are you currently learning German in your home country? How about a group trip to Germany? The best way to boost your learning process is to get to know the country and its people. Learn the German language in Germany, discover the culture together with your learning group and gain new experiences.

Preparations before the trip

First think about which German city you would like to visit. Carl Duisberg Centren offers language courses at five locations in Germany: Berlin, Cologne, Marburg, Munich and Radolfzell on Lake Constance. If you are still at school, you will of course need to discuss everything with your teacher. You also have to plan the best way to get to Germany – by plane, train or bus.

To ensure that everyone can afford the trip, there is the option of collecting money or applying for a scholarship. Finally, the program must be planned and the trip be booked.

What does the stay in Germany look like?

There are two options for a German course for groups at Carl Duisberg Centren: If everyone in your group has roughly the same language level, you can continue learning together. You will then only have a different teacher in Germany and use different learning materials than in your home country. The second option is recommended if you have different levels of German in your group. In this case, you will be integrated into international classes and learn together with course participants from all over the world.

German lessons at Carl Duisberg Centren are also very activity-oriented, which means you have to actively use your language skills. For most participants, it is new that the lessons for all levels are held entirely in German. This can be a little challenging in the first few days, especially for beginners, but you will soon notice that you become much more confident in a short time.

Even if you continue to learn in your group from your home country, you will have the opportunity to get to know other course participants and speak German with them during breaks in the lessons or during leisure activities.

Leisure program in addition to German lessons

In the afternoons and at weekends, you have the opportunity to immerse yourself in German culture. On the first afternoon, a city tour or city rally is usually on the program. For the other days, you can choose from a wide range of interesting and varied leisure activities.

Whether Berlin, Cologne, Marburg, Munich or Radolfzell on Lake Constance – each city has its own highlights. For example, you can do sport in Monbijoupark in Berlin, take a walk through the Rheinpark in Cologne and visit Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe in Marburg. The fairytale castle of Neuschwanstein can be reached quickly from Munich and in Radolfzell you can try out stand-up paddling in summer.

Accommodation during the stay

Depending on location and availability, Carl Duisberg Centren offers various accommodation options. A host family accommodates international guests in their home. This includes everything from single pensioners to large families. If you opt for a host family, you will experience everyday life in Germany up close. Alternatively, your group can also be accommodated in a youth hostel, hostel, hall of residence or hotel.

Carl Duisberg Centren combines language courses tailored to the target group with a variety of cultural activities and excursions. The group programs in Germany are designed for participants ages 14 and up and are available from October to May.
